2012 Science Fair Season Up and Coming

Science fair season is just around the corner and preparations are well under way for the 28 regional science fairs operating in Ontario!  Many science fair committees began planning for their upcoming fair in September 2011 and dates have been set.  In order to prepare for the Canada-Wide Science Fair in May of 2012, the majority of regional science fairs in Ontario will be holding their science fairs between late March and mid-April.

Science fair’s have a long history in a number of communities in Ontario.   Youth Science Ontario wants to congratulate the following regional science fairs who are celebrating their 50th anniversary:

  • Algoma Rotary Regional Science Fair
  • Niagara Regional Science & Engineering Fair
  • North Bay Regional Science Fair

Thank you to all the volunteers in Ontario that make regional science fairs a possibility. Without your contributions, the bright, innovative youth of Ontario would not have a creative outlet for pursuing project-based inquiry science.

With successes in 2011 like Marshall Zhang, who discovered a potential treatment for cystic fibrosis, and Nicholas Schiefer, who invented a better way to search small documents on the internet, be sure to keep an eye out for a variety of exciting projects this year!
