Peel Junior Science Innovation Expo

Tomken Road Middle School is going to be hosting an exciting Junior Science Innovation Expo event for students in the Peel Region from grades 4 to 6. The event will take place at Tomken Road Middle School. The exact date and time TBA soon.

The gist of the event

Food Miles

1^st half of the day:

The participating students will be presented with a ‘Food Miles’ problem at the beginning of the day. The students will work in their individual teams to develop a solution to the problem and the teams will present their solutions in form of a mini production or a skit. The students will be presented with a prop (Frozen Dinner pack) which they will need to include in their final presentation. As the teams are problem solving and developing their skits, each team will be match up with a mentor who will facilitate their problem solving skills, creative and critical thinking processes.

2^nd half of the day:

Individual teams will present their solution on a stage in front of their parents, other teams and the judges who will evaluate their skits. The top three winning teams will be awarded with a prize at the end of the day. All participants will be recognized with a certificate.
