SESSION INSTRUCTIONS (~ 2 hrs.):

1)      Topic Introduction (15-30 min.)

• The instructor conducts a short PowerPoint presentation on the theme of the day and presents the students with a problem

2)      Problem Solving (60-90 min.)

• Student are divided into small groups (up to 5 students)
• Each group is given a box with various materials (include any materials that you wish- i.e. construction paper, plastic cups, markers, popsicle sticks, plastic bags, props, etc.)
• Each group of students is to be matched up with a mentor that will guide the group as they are working on their solutions and making coneections
• During this time mentors are encouraged to apply problem solving strategies to help students develop solutions to the problem at hand

 3)      Presentations (30- 45 min.)

• Individual groups communicate their solution/inventions to the rest of the students
• The team with best solution/presentation is awarded (optional)
