Since 2005, the Ontario Association of Medical Laboratories (OAML) has partnered with Youth Science Ontario in celebrating Ontario’s young scientists through sponsorship of the ongoing Ontario Association of Medical Laboratories Award.
The Ontario Association of Medical Laboratories Award provides $100 for each regional science fair for an outstanding project in disciplines such as Biochemistry, Chemistry, Microbiology, Toxicology, and Forensic Science.
OAML is the recognized leader and voice of Ontario’s community laboratory sector. Their mandate includes promoting the highest level of professionalism, accountability, and technical excellence in the provision of laboratory services for the benefit of people in Ontario. OAML speaks on behalf of member laboratory services to government in matters of health programs, policy and legislation, and supports “best use” testing in community laboratories.
Member laboratories provide high quality diagnostic information to over 19,000 physicians and nurse practitioners throughout Ontario which they use to help make their clinical decisions. Community laboratories see over 16 million patients annually.
When asked why the OAML feels it important to support youth science, Paul Gould, CEO replied, “The efforts of Youth Science Ontario have demonstrated the incredible talent that is present in our youth. We welcome the opportunity to support and encourage these inquisitive, enthusiastic and creative students of science to become the great scientists of tomorrow. ”
In recognition of its sponsorship and support, Youth Science Ontario is proud to identify OAML as a key sponsor of Youth Science Ontario at all events, including our high-profile annual Showcase. As a key sponsor, OAML will continue to receive invitations to personally present its OAML Award at any of the 30 regional science fairs and to speak at Youth Science Ontario events. Year-round recognition is extended through words of acknowledgement and placement of the Association’s logo on Youth Science Ontario’s website, event posters, press releases, and printed material such as newsletters and promotional brochures.
On behalf of all the students who benefit from its support, Youth Science Ontario would like to sincerely thank OAML for its continuing sponsorship.
